TOUR TYPE

The maritime island of Skjernøy is the Southernmost inhabited island of Norway. Only a narrow bridge connects it to the mainland and most of it has more sheep than cars. Only minutes from the town of Mandal you leave your coach by the chapel and walk by a pristine maritime community until you reach the red iron walking bridge. Across the ocean bay the island is car free and you get a true sense of life without the city noise. You walk past farms and homes built in the Age of Sail hugging the shoreline until the fresh salty ocean breeze is all you hear.
Traces of a Bronze Age village have been detected here and midway on the Island is the perfect resting stop on a community made dock and covered bench area. Hike the rest of the scenic
island making sure to close the sheep gates behind you.
