KING OF THE FOREST

Welcome to a rare and close encounter with the undisputed king of the Norwegian forest at Viltgården Park in Setesdal. Normally a very shy animal in the wild, here the moose will approach through the woods with the call of a caretaker. Weighing up to 700 kg, their sheer size leaves a lasting impression on visitors of all ages. Join in the feeding and even get to pat the majestic animals under supervision. Visits are guided by experienced handlers who ensure the encounter happens on the moose’s terms. 

Pick up fascinating facts from your “moose whisperer” and learn how studies of their behaviours can help protect the animals in their natural habitat.

Refreshments and memorabilia are available at the Visitors Centre and in close vicinity a chance to see rabbits and wild boars as well.Combine the visit with a tour on the lake  with the old wood-fired steamship Bjoren from 1866.
